I have always liked the game and have never received any complaints in regards to the game from my friends or family, so I figured I would write an article on the best civilizations tier list, which can assist a potential new player in choosing which civilization to pick. I am a long time fan of AOE 2 and I have been playing it since the beginning of it’s existence, through all of the patches and updates. I personally have an opinion, and I’m going to share it with you. I won’t name any specific forum threads about it, but believe me, it’s a big topic. The best civilizations tier list is one of the most hotly debated topics in the gaming community.

This guide will be updated as more civilizations are added to the game and new civilizations are released. Siege, as i guess that if he walls it is nice for him to be able to fire above the walls at rams, frk uu could do that too but it would be a one trick pony as(unlike mangudai) they arent that good in other situations while mangudai are among my favorite uuĮdit, its so hard to write on a touchscreen, even if its a tablet. This is the definitive guide to all the civilizations for the new version of Age of Empires II, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. The mogols are also nice for noobs for the attack onus of the mangudai vs. For a beginner it is nice to get to know one civ, which becomes the one most comfortable with. Originally posted by NIK_F_S:Sure, but i meant for low skill levels, where they dont really know each civ and their most common tactic, so that shouldnt be a problem for a 'super noob', ofcourse later on they are harder to play as you kinda have sign on your head"to win the game you must make helbs" Exactly why I prefer Mongols, as they have essentially all the options that Huns have (Huns is most diverse to play with through the ages) and they are powerful once moving to higher level of play too, while teaching house-building but making most things easier, with the scouting bonus. Also, with 6 villagers from the start, the Chinese have an early smaller-than-it-seems advantage, but I wouldn't recommend them to a noob. I recommend the Magyar for a balanced civ without any obvious eco bonus, and the 1-hit wolf killing ability will be welcomed by noobs and maybe permit to risk a later loom.įinally, aside from the cheaper markets, the Saracens have no early eco bonus, and are a good civ if you wish to learn with training wheels off (no wonder they were picked by ZeroEmpires to be the player's civ in his fast castle tutorial). The Malians might have too many bonuses to be mentioned in this part: -15% wood / building and free/instant gold techs. The Persians and Italians also have age-up related bonuses that may help. The japanese are another all-around good civ with an early wood bonus because of cheaper drop off buildings. The portuguese have an open tech tree and a cheaper gold unit bonus, good for early naval, knight and archer warfare.

You may want, however, to learn how to rush, in which case you may want to try a not-so-easy civ, or even a hard civ to rush with, to test yourself, or to make it so you don't get bad habits from the civ you chose (I remember playing with the Spanish, and because they build stuff faster, when I switched to another civ I got housed a lot). I think the Huns could use (even) more nerfs, but I have anti-Hun prejudice. If you want to rush in a water map - Vikings, Portuguese, Japanese, Hunsīecause of their impressive eco bonuses, the mongols (hunting) and huns (no houses) are all-around good civs to rush with. If you want to rush with towers - Koreans, Inca, Spanish If you wish to feudal rush with units that cost no gold - Byzantines

In no particular order (but I'll try to put the best civ, imho, first):įor feudal age archer rush - Mayans, Ethiopians, Britonsįor feudal age scout rush - Huns, Franks, Magyar, maybe ♥♥♥♥ if boat fishing is availableįor knight rush - Berbers, Franks, Huns, Teutons If you want to use the rush strategy with success tonight, your best option would be civs with early game bonuses. Learn to rush, as Mr420 pointed out, can mean two very different things. I'll assume you have the expansions this is very important because some civs, like the Franks, obtained significant improvements, while the Mayans and Huns got nerfed (Ashur_Arbaces was right, they used to have great rushing capabilities in Conquerors).
